Behind the Seams

Behind the Seams

It has been a busy summer here at Max and Molly HQ, from selling our SS23 lines to making sure the kids have a summer to remember. There hasn’t been much time to think that Autumn is just around the corner, and with it come preparations for our next collection!
With each new collection comes a process that I follow to make sure all of our pieces turn out beautifully and that our little ones not only feel like a million dollars in them but also are comfortable and happy in each piece.
While I’m working on ideas and designs for our next collection, I thought it would be nice to share the process that I went through for our Spring/Summer collection so you can see our visions come to life.
-
Turning Inspiration into Ideas
-
I start by creating mood boards to get the creative juices flowing and get my thoughts on paper. I prefer a ‘hands-on’ approach, so I’ll take the time to collect examples of colours, fabrics and cut outs that inspire me and sketch out my initial ideas. For our SS23 collection, my vision included a lot of floral elements and fresh colours.

From Dreams to Designs
-
Once I have an idea in mind I’ll move on to samples. My designs will be shared with our dressmaking partner to test out embroidery details and bring my vision to life. Samples are shared with the team to test and finalise any embroidery and trims before being approved for production.
